Examinations for Coast Pilots

Examinations for coast pilots will be conducted by the Pacific Pilotage Authority in March 2027, to establish a list of applicants eligible to become apprentice marine pilots in the coastal waters of the Pacific pilotage region (Areas 2, 3, 4 and 5).  

For information on certification and sea-time requirements, please refer to the General Pilotage Regulations.

Applicants must be:

•    Canadian citizens or Permanent Residents 
•    willing obtain a Police Information Check 
•    undergo a medical examination to determine mental and physical fitness to perform the duties of a marine pilot

Applicants who believe they are qualified should submit a written request for an application package prior to 1530 hrs on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
